R.D. Olson Construction Names Tim Cromwell Partner
February 21, 2011
IRVINE, Calif. – R.D. Olson Construction, a premiere hotel, restaurant and resort builder, has advanced Tim Cromwell’s status from the already prestigious title of vice president and director of business development to partner.
Cromwell began with R.D. Olson Construction in 1993 identifying new market segments and construction trends, and cultivating new clients. For the past 18 years, he has established the company’s market direction. With Cromwell at the helm of business development, R.D. Olson has weathered the economic storm and even prospered.
“Tim knows the marketplace and what developers are looking for,” said Robert Olson, CEO/president, R.D. Olson Construction. “His ability to keep the company on a steady course with a well-balanced mix of project types has given rise to the company’s status as a leading general contracting firm. He has played such a large role in advancing the company, it just made sense for him to be a partner.”
While one of the industry’s more serious movers and shakers, Cromwell also is known for his off-the-wall networking. Each year, he organizes the company’s annual “Summer Board Meeting,” a fun-filled day at the beach where some of America’s leading names in the real estate industry shed their Armani suits for swimwear and learn to surf on the famous waves at San Onofre.
Cromwell also is active in local youth sports leagues and volunteers in community functions. He serves on the board of directors for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and organizes a charity golf tournament each spring.
R.D. Olson Construction, based in Irvine, Calif., was founded in 1979. It has grown into one of the top 50 general contracting firms in California, building such establishments as the 174-room Renaissance ClubSport in Aliso Viejo; AVIA Long Beach Hotel; Marriott Newport Coast Villas, Newport Beach; Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Resort, Ojai; and four Marriott Residence Inns in Long Beach, Burbank, Oceanside and Irvine. Renovations include the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, Los Angeles; Ritz Carlton Spa, Marina del Rey; and Four Seasons Los Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. The company’s most recent completions include renovating the 19-story Hotel Palomar, Westwood; Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove: Avalon Grille, Catalina Island; and Pavilion Hotel, Catalina Island. Additionally, the company has completed more than 300 major brand restaurants nationwide.
