Dir of Business Development Joins PCRF Board
January 25, 2010
IRVINE, Calif. – Tim Cromwell, director of Business development for R.D. Olson Construction, has been named to the board of directors for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. He joins 22 other board members including the non-profit’s President Jack Cross, CEO of Jack A. Cross & Associates and John Vallely, a former NBA basketball player.
Cromwell became actively involved with the foundation by overseeing all baseball activities and helping to organize a yearly YMCA Indian Guides event at which the PCRF sponsors a massive campout at Anaheim Stadium. The event is intended to raise funds that benefit children with cancer. It is one of many events that have contributed to the foundation raising $1.2 million in 2009 alone.
“Tim’s 17 years of managerial experience with R.D. Olson, combined with his earnest compassion for finding a cure for cancer made him the perfect choice to become a board member,” said Nancy Franks, executive director, Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. “We are honored he accepted.”
In joining the board, Cromwell will work on long-term as well as short-term goals with the primary focus on maintaining and increasing the foundation’s donor base. This, in turn, will provide money to obtain grants for research to improve treatments, increase survival rates and, ultimately, find a cure against cancer.
“Finding funds to support the noble causes of the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation is a challenge during these tough economic times,” said Cromwell. “But for children diagnosed with cancer, recession is not in their vocabulary. Time is of the essence to find a cure.”
The PCRF has made significant headway in the last 17 years. Survival rates for children with specific cancers–leukemia being the most prevalent–have increased from 20 percent to 80 percent. The quality of life as also been significantly enhanced with better treatment.
The PCRF is pleased with its choice. Cromwell has extensive knowledge on the ways and means of cultivating new resources. To fulfill his obligations as a PCRF board member, he will cull from 17 years experience building a large and prominent client base for one of California’s leading hotel, restaurant and resort building companies.
The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation was formed in 1982. It is located in Irvine, Calif.
R.D. Olson Construction was founded in 1979 and is located in Irvine, Calif.
