R.D. Olson to Build Affordable Housing Project in Northern California

IRVINE, Calif.—R.D. Olson Construction has begun work on a $22 million San Jose affordable housing project—The Fairways. The 86-unit apartment complex at 305 San Antonio Court is owned by San Diego-based Affirmed Housing Group and named for its close proximity to the Rancho Pueblo Golf Course.

The project sits on a 2.19-acre site in a section of the city that is undergoing redevelopment. The Fairways will bring a modern touch to the area with its five-three-story buildings. The project will replace a demolished structure with 72,000-square-feet of new construction and a 45,000-square-foot parking garage.

“It is always a pleasure to be part of a process that brings affordable housing to areas that need it most,” said Robert Olson, CEO/president, R.D. Olson Construction.

This is the second project R.D. Olson has built for Affirmed Housing Group, having completed the Maple Square Apartments in 2006.

Robert Olson, CEO/president, R.D. Olson Construction, founded the company in 1979. It has grown into one of the largest general contracting firm in California, building such establishments as Marriott Newport Coast Villas, Newport Beach; Marriott Residence Inn, Burbank; Marriott Residence Inn, Oceanside; and more than 300 restaurants nationwide including 10 Morton’s the Steakhouses and 20 Benihana-owned establishments. Current California projects under construction include Renaissance ClubSport, Aliso Viejo; Hotel Palomar, Westwood; and Marriott’s Shadow Ridge, Palm Desert.
